Today is World Oceans Day and the UN’s theme this year is 'Innovation for a Sustainable Ocean'. It’s a day to celebrate our oceans and work to build awareness around how we impact the health of our oceans.
As we know, we have imposed unprecedented stressors on them through factors such as pollution, decreasing levels of water, and climate change. Oceans are literally the lungs of our planet as they provide most of the oxygen we breathe, so let’s work on solutions to help heal our oceans and ensure that we preserve their beauty and the wealth of resources they provide us.
Some of the key things that we are doing here at Soleil...
First, all of our products are free of oxybenzone + octinoxate. These chemicals are not only hormone disruptors, but they also cause viruses in coral reefs and are responsible for killing 10% of the world’s reefs.
Second, we offset all of our carbon emissions from product shipments, global operations, and corporate travel through Cool Effect to reduce the environmental impact of our company. Cool Effect’s mission is to reduce carbon pollution that causes climate change through 100% verified carbon reducing projects. Finally, by the end of 2020, we will replace 95% of all our petroleum based plastic packaging with bio-plastic made from sugarcane or ocean salvaged plastic. Click here to learn more.
